Craig and his students in collabortation with American composer and pianist Martin Hennessy works with singers in the Maryland Opera Studio (MOS) on his adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Young King.
January 2017: Craig makes Arizona Opera Debut leading Madama Butterfly
Tucson, AZ: Arizona Opera kicks off 2017 with Puccini's masterpiece, Madama Butterfly. Sandra Lopez and Rena Harms will alternate in the title role of Cio-Cio-San, with tenors Daniel Montenegro and Marco Cammarota alternating as Lieutenant Pinkerton. Levi Hernandez will take the role of Sharpless, while Deborah Nansteel and Mariya Kaganskaya alternate in the role of Suzuki. Conductor Craig Kier makes his Arizona Opera debut and Stage Director Matthew Ozawa returns to direct.

September 2016: Watch Wolftrap's Rape of Lucretia online
Vienna, VA: Wolf Trap Opera’s new production of Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia is now available online. Performed in June 2016, it featured performances by the Filene Young Artists of the 2016 season roster and was conducted by Craig Kier. directed by Louisa Muller, with set design by Erhard Rom, costumes by Kara Harmon, wigs & makeup by Anne Nesmith, and lighting by Robert H. Grimes.

July 2016: Craig Kier makes Opera Saratoga debut in 16/17 leading Falstaff
Saratoga Springs, NY: Opera Saratoga's Artistic and General Director Lawrence Edelson announced today the three exciting new productions that will comprise the company's 2017 Summer Festival including Verdi's Falstaff, which has not been produced by Opera Saratoga in 26 years. August 2015: Craig Kier Announces 2015/16 Performances
Scheduled highlights in Craig Kier's 2015/16 season include a return to Houston Ballet to conduct performances of Tchaikovsky's long-loved The Nutcracker and to Opera Birmingham for La traviata. This season also marks his second year as Director of the Maryland Opera Studio where he will lead productions of Mozart's Don Giovanni and Blitzstein's Regina.
February 2015: Craig Kier makes Opera Santa Barbara Debut with L’Italiana in Algeri
Santa Barbara, CA: Craig Kier leads one of Rossini's most exquisite successes, who was just 21 at the time he composed it. L'Italiana in Algeri perfectly blends Rossini's talent of mixing opera seria with opera buffa.

A graduate of SUNY Fredonia in New York City, Kier currently spends most of his time working with the Houston Grand Opera and the Houston Ballet. Recently, he’s been frequently making the trip to and from College Park to work with the Maryland Opera Studio students. "I’ve actually been there several times,” Kier said. “We spent the first week coaching it musically and putting all of the ensembles together ...
